Neuman tops Rod End Supply 'Thunder in the Valley'

By POWRi PR (Grain Valley, MO) -- In dominating fashion, Jake Neuman snapped the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports winning streak in POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League competition. By winning the second night of the Second Annual Thunder in the Valley, Neuman and his family owned team are now one of three different car owners to capture victories throughout 2018 with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League.

Neuman, hailing from New Berlin, Illinois, took the top spot from early race leader, Holly Shelton on lap 11 and set a blistering pace leaning against the tall Valley Speedway curb. Enduring a handful of yellows on his way to victory, Neuman was never seriously challenged. On the final lap in the final turn, last night's winner, Tucker Klaasmeyer threw a haymaker of a slide job from the second position entering turn three in hopes of possibly cutting of Neuman coming off four, but Neuman's head of steam was too much for the slide job to even threaten his lead. Klaasmeyer ultimately ended up spun around after hard contact with the cushion and finished 16th. Ryan Robinson took second with Holly Shelton in third, while Wesley Smith took fourth. Smith drove to fourth from 17th after taking the semi-feature victory. Kory Schudy completed the top five.

"I went out there and was looking at the top earlier when they were sheeps-footing it and watering it and just told my guys I would be up here," commented Jake Neuman. "It actually worked out. I messed up probably about five laps in a row and was afraid a Kunz car was going to catch me, but they didn't. I saw Tucker try to slide me down in three, but I just gassed it up because I wasn't going to let him get around me. I can't thank my sponsors, my family, and everyone that came out tonight enough."

"Last night I moved down too late and tonight I was trying to stay down there early on," said Ryan Robinson. "It was alright, I just can't thank my team and sponsors enough. All these race fans, they're true race fans sticking it out in all the rain and heat. It's been a tough week."

"I probably should have ran fourth," stated Holly Shelton. "It's unfortunate what happened to Tucker, but congrats to Ryan and Jake. They were quite a bit faster than me. I just couldn't figure out the right line. I led quite a few there at the beginning. But, it's fun racing with these guys. This car is fast and we're only getting better."

Goodno’s Career-First Comes at Valley

By POWRi (Grain Valley, MO) – In a well-earned feature win, Riley Goodno took his career-first with the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro League in what was the second night of the Second Annual Thunder in the Valley weekend at Valley Speedway. The Second Annual Thunder in the Valley was also the inaugural appearance for the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro League.

Starting outside front row to Joe B. Miller, Riley Goodno took the lead on the opening lap and never looked back, leading all 20 laps to claim victory. As Goodno ran away with the win, the battle from second on back heated up as Jackson Frisbie, Austin Schaeffer, and Joe B. Miller swapped positions until the restart on lap 17 when Jack Wagner was able to advance past Frisbie for third.

With a caution on the final lap, the field lined up for a green and white flag restart, with everything on the line for one lap. As Goodno led the field back to green and took back to the bottom, his preferred line for the feature, Austin Schaeffer took back to the top. Coming off two, Schaeffer balled up on the curb, allowing Jack Wagner to close, with Wagner taking the position in three and four. Austin Schaeffer finished in third, while Gunner Ramey took fourth with Joe B. Miller in fifth.

“I never thought this would happen this year,” said Riley Goodno. “All those cautions, it just made me more nervous. I could hear someone on the topside, but I guess not. I could hear Austin up there, so congrats to him on a third place finish. Nathan Benson built our package and he’s been a great help this year.”

“Great finish by Riley Goodno,” commented Jack Wagner. “That boy’s been working hard lately and this car here’s been struggling all year and I’m very glad that me and my crew were able to put this car in second place tonight. Big thanks to my crew and my sponsors. There are so many who support me to run this car.”

“It’s hard to do when the track’s this big,” stated Austin Schaeffer. “It feels like you have so much time on the straightaway, but then when you actually get up to the corner, it comes up quicker than you think. I balled up a little over there when I had a good run on him and I thought I was going to get him there on the white flag, but I just goofed up. Congrats to Riley Goodno, he ran a heck of a race and ran smooth all night. He earned it.”
