Tyler Nelson - Second Run for the Chili Bowl
For the second year in a row, an 18 year old Midget Driver from Olathe KS, Tyler Nelson #88 makes a run at a Chili Bowl Trophy.
Tyler's first appearance in 2015 ended with a final run in the J-Main. Thanks to his run on Qualifying night.
2016 Qualifying started on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 with the Warren Cat Night Qualifying Round.
The Draw placed Tyler in Heat 10, Starting position #4 he finished #3. Passing points count in this race and a #4 start gave limited opportunity to earn passing points. The #3 finish placed Nelson in one of 2 Qualifying rounds starting in Row 1 on the outside. An unfortunate push from the rear caused Tyler to spin out in Turn 4 leaving him with an 8th place finish placing him in the B-Main Feature.
A top 4 finish would have moved him to the A-Main. Tyler started on Row 4 on the inside, quickly moved up to #5 but fell off at the end for a 7th place finish.
Saturday, Championship day, had Tyler starting in the G-Main Feature Starting Row 2 Outside but dropped to #5 after 10 laps just missing the chance to move on to the F - Main.
All in all though, moving from 2015's J Main Feature to 2016's G Main Feature is a dramatic improvement for Tyler Nelson Racing.
