ASCS Warriors at Grain Valley on Friday Night!

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (September 6, 2011) – The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region kicks off a full weekend set of racing action by taking to Grain Valley, Missouri’s Valley Speedway on Friday night with a 2,000-to-win tilt.

Friday’s card leads into a pair of Speedway Motors ASCS Midwest events in Nebraska on Saturday and Sunday, making for three full nights of action.

Sunset Hills, Missouri’s Brad Loyet leads the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior forces into Friday’s action, holding a 227-point lead over four-time Warrior champion Randy Martin after capturing his third series win in this past weekend’s Lake Ozark Speedway Nationals preliminary feature.

In his rookie Sprint Car campaign, only the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial at Wheatland’s Lucas Oil Speedway with the Lucas Oil Sprint Car National series on September 23-24 stands between Loyet and the ASCS Warrior championship.

While Loyet’s lead is a healthy one, Martin is just 13 points ahead of Sedalia’s Jonathan Cornell in the battle for second with Kyle Bellm and Mark Shirshekan rounding out the current top five. The rest of the top ten in ASCS Warrior points includes Cody Baker, Josh Stephens, Tyler Blank, Austin Alumbaugh and Miranda Arnold.

The ASCS Warrior forces will face a number of top contenders on Friday with the National series idle this weekend. Danny Lasoski topped the ASCS Warrior event at Valley Speedway last month.

Friday’s action at Valley Speedway fires off at 8:00 p.m.

The semi-banked, 1/3-mile Valley Speedway clay oval is located in Grain Valley, MO, just east of Kansas City off of I-70 Exit 24, then 0.9 miles south on Main Street, then 0.4 miles east on Old US 40. For more information, contact the track at 816-349-9283.

The inaugural season of Speedway Motors Warrior Region action under the ASCS banner currently consists of 17 nights of competition at eight different tracks throughout Missouri and into Kansas.

The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
